IT WAS a very successful March for South Essex’s girls as they won the 2016 Quatro Cup in Ipswich and qualified 16 gymnasts for the Regional Club Grade Finals in May.
An SEGC group of 24 took on nine teams from across the country at at Pipers Vale at the start of the month and brought the impressive Miss Quatro Jewel of the South team trophy back to Basildon.
A total of 393 gymnasts also competed for individual prizes at the invitational event and SEGC scooped a raft of medals and rosettes.
Shamiso Ndoro won the compulsory Grade 5 competition for eight-year-olds, and at national Grade 4 for 10-years-plus, Sarah Jane Coker was champion and Charlotte Cassidy third.
In the club Grade 5 section, Ruby Miller was first and Jessica Haycock third in the age group for 10-year-olds. In the 11-12 age group, Emma Coombs took top spot, while Maggie-May Shepherd was first in the nine-year-old’s section.
In regional Grade 4 competition for 10-11 year-olds, Eve Emilia Page was first, and also in action in the compulsory section for five-to-eight-year-olds were Scarlett Edge, Grace Reed and Tia Basi.
Isabel Boukhoufane competed in club Grade 6 for eight-year-olds while Teagan Newcombe, Holly McDonough and Darcy Fraser competed in the club Grade 5 for 10-year-olds, and Mia Walsh in the same grade, but the nine-year-olds category.
Billie Masser and Elise De Boos competed in the regional Grade 4 competition for the 10-11 age group, and Tyler Barnard and Vivian Jaiyesimi in the regional Grade 3 for gymnasts aged 11-and-over.
In the middle of March, a group of 27 of SEGC’s artistic gymnasts competed for their Club Grades at the Colchester School of Gymnastics – and 16 came back with medals and booked a place at the Regional Club Grade Finals in Ipswich on May 1.
In the 9-10 age group for Grade 6, Darcie Meechan took gold and Evie Carr silver.
In Grade 5 for nine-year olds, Maggie-May Shepherd was first and Mia Walsh second, and in the 10-11 age group, SEGC dominated the podium with Emma Coombs first, Ruby Miller second and Holly McDonough third.
In our Grades 2 and 3, Jemimah Allen took bronze the 12-13 age group, and Faith Everitt took silver for the 14+ age group.
Ellie Bates was champion in the 11-12 age group and Tyler Barnard was third.
In Grade 1 and 4, Darcie Loman was second in the 13-14 age group and Ellie Hall second in the 15-plus age group.
Eve Page won the 10-year-old age group, Elise De Boos was second in the 11-12 age group, and Jessica Sansom third in the 13-plus age group.
