MAX WHITLOCK finished off his dream showing at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow by winning his fifth medal – a bronze on the parallel bars on Friday afternoon.
It means the South Essex gymnast and his coach Scott Hann will bring home three golds from the team, all-round and floor competitions, a silver on pommel horse, and that bronze from P-bars.
London 2012 star Max has once again captured the nation’s hearts with a string of incredible displays over five days of competition – much of which has been screened live on BBC television.
His thrilling week included a pommel horse showdown on Thursday with England rival Louis Smith and eventual champion Dan Keatings, of Scotland, which brought together everyone at the South Essex club to cheer him on in the gym in Basildon.
Max has remained typically modest throughout and tweeted to his fans: “Only just been able to get on Twitter. Your support is amazing! Thank you. So happy with my medals today. 🙂 #LovedIt”
