JAY THOMPSON is in a positive mood after undergoing an operation for a dislocated elbow suffered in training.
The popular South Essex gymnast, 17, had the procedure on Friday (September 5) to repair damage which happened during a floor routine.

Jay explained: “I was doing a roll out on floor and just landed dead on a straight arm.
“I had an operation on Friday to fix all my ligaments, tendons and muscles so in about six weeks I can put pressure on my arm.
“It’s quite a long time to be out but luckily not as long as I had thought it might be.”
Jay – who has been inundated with get well messages on his Twitter account – was back on his feet and back in the gym at the Basildon Sporting Village on Monday to show club-mates his war wounds!
South Essex’s head coach Scott Hann said Jay was “positive” and in a good frame of mind about his recovery and rehab.
