HUNDREDS of South Essex’s young gymnasts lit up this year’s Gym School Cup with some eye-catching routines in early March.
About 300 school-aged competitors all came away with certificates after impressing nearly 200 spectators at the Basildon Sporting Village.

Children aged up to Year 6 performed set routines and older children were allowed to incorporate their own moves in front of a panel of judges at the annual event.
Isabelle Rose Watson was among the youngsters to take part and she showed what the event is all about by making a poster to support her cousin Lily, who also took part.

Hundreds of our school-aged members will compete for prizes at the annual event by displaying skills on floor, vault and trampoline in front of a panel of judges.
SEGC’s Events Coordinator Cara Noble said: “It was a big success and that was all made possible but the hard work of the club’s staff and the fantastic efforts of our gymnasts and their families.”
