EVIE SAVAGE and Josslyn Miller both won medals on their first-ever appearance at the British Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.
Evie, who is coached by Danielle Paul at South Essex Gymnastics Club, was fifth overall in the Under-10s section and won bronze with the Rope at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Thursday, July 30.
Josslyn, who is coached by SEGC’s Verity Adams, was fourth overall in the Uncer-9s category and picked up a silver in the Free discipline in front of a crowd of hundreds of spectators.
Both girls had impressed earlier in the month at the English Championships with Josslyn, eight, winning silver in the Free event and Evie, nine, claiming silver with the Rope and bronze overall at the GMAC centre in Birmingham.
Verity, who is Head of Rhythmic Gymnasts at the Basildon-based club, said: “After how well they had done at the English Championships we thought they had a chance of doing well, but we are still very proud of just how well they did in Liverpool.
“They were up against the top eight girls from across the UK, including gymnasts from Wales and Scotland, so they have represented the club and Essex brilliantly.”
