SEGC Director of Coaching Scott Hann was pleased with the displays of club Artistic stars Max Whitlock, Brinn Bevan and Tommy Nicolaou at the 2019 European Championships in Poland.
The trio were in action at the eighth running of the event between April 10-14 at the Netto Arena in Szczecin, Poland.
Olympic champion Max Whitlock was back on top of the podium with a pommel gold with a score of 15.533 to finish well clear of his next closest rival, France’s Cyril Tommasone, who scored 14.800.
Scott said: “Max has recently become a father for the first time, which was always going to put added pressure on training and competing.
“But he coped with everything amazingly. He competed on the high bar too, the first time since Rio, and it was a very good clean routine. And, of course, his pommels was world class.”
Max’s Great Britain team-mate and SEGC club-mate Brinn showed his international pedigree with a sixth-placed finish in the pommel final, and seventh in the parallel-bars final.
Scott said: “This was Brinn’s first ever senior Europeans but he took it all in his stride and looked great in qualifying for the p-bar and pommel finals.
“And in those finals he was also calm and did an amazing job.”
The event also gave Tommy the chance to compete in his first international competition for Cyprus.
Scott added: “He did five of the six apparatus outstandingly but an unfortunate fall placed him just short of the all-around final. But it was very promising for the future.”
