ABBY POLLOCK is the first-ever winner of new South Essex Gymnastics Club scheme launched to recognise the hard work of the club’s Gym-School coaches.
Abby, 22, who has coached at SEGC since June 2018, received a certificate and her win in January was shared across SEGC’s large social media following.
She has worked in a number of areas including Recreational, Pre-School, Disabilities and Women’s Artistic.
Abby said: “It was a surprise but an honour to win because of the high levels of coaching that goes on within the club. It was good that my hard work got recognition.
“The most rewarding part of the job for me is the feeling when a child completes a skill for the first time, no matter what skill it is or how difficult the skill is.
“It is about seeing their determination and motivation to complete it finally pay off.”
Kayleigh Peak, SEGC’s Head of Gym-School at the Eversley Leisure Centre, started the Coach of the Month project to recognise the hard work of staff at the club.
She added: “Abby got the award for January because she is enthusiastic and showed commitment to the gym as a coach.
“I choose the coaches each month and will present their certificate and an explanation of why they won in front of the children in their classes.”
