SOUTH ESSEX stars Brinn Bevan and Amy Tinkler will compete against some of the world’s best gymnasts at the World Cup of Gymnastics at London’s O2 Arena.
The duo, who both competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will line up alongside fellow Brits Sam Oldham and Ellie Downie in front of a packed crowd on Saturday, April 8.
The event will feature competitors from the countries who finished in the top eight at last year’s Olympics, with the women in action in the afternoon and the men in the evening.
The O2 Arena is where SEGC hero Max Whitlock famously won two bronze medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and Bevan wants to make his own special memories at the venue.
Bevan, who has recently signed a four-year deal to be managed by Barry Hearn’s Matchroom Sport, said: “It is a great honour to be asked to take part and I hope to give a good account of myself.
“It will be a tough competition and I think Ukraine’s Oleg Vernyayev and America’s Donnell Whittenburg will be very strong – but I am certainly aiming for a top-three place.”
