JAY THOMPSON says it will be “honour” to represent South Essex Gymnastics Club alongside team-mate Reiss Beckford at April’s World Cup of Gymnastics event at London’s O2 arena.
The duo will then go head-to-head in a release-and -catch ‘battle’ in which the winner will be whoever pulls off the skill the most times consecutively.
Thompson, a British, European and Commonwealth champion, said: “It is a big honour to be asked and to do it with a good friend like Reiss and represent the club will make it even more special.
“We have already started working on the routine and we showcased an early version of it at our club’s annual Christmas show this year and it went down well.
“Now we will be working on it in the run up to the event and plan to thrill what is likely to be a great crowd at The O2.”
The World Cup of Gymnastics, in partnership with British Gymnastics, will be over two sessions in one day on April 8, 2017.
It will see some of the world’s best male and female gymnasts compete in the all-around format.
