SEGC - South Essex Gymnastics Club

Agreements

Although as a club we have always valued the spirit of co-operation between coaches, gymnasts and their parents we hope that by clarifying the expectations we have of one another it will assist us all in understanding the important role we play in helping our gymnasts to fulfil their potential.

As well as achieving their best it is important that your child is safe and happy during their time at South Essex. As we hope you are aware, we take our responsibilities seriously and the well being and safety of the gymnasts in our care is the most important consideration in everything we do.

As coaches, we aim to build a professional relationship with the gymnasts where they feel comfortable to talk to us although we realise they do not always tell us everything. Obviously, you are the people that know your child the best and it is important that we are aware if they have any worries or concerns. In the first instance it is usually best to speak to your child's coach to see if things can be sorted out. This will, of course, be in confidence. You can also speak to me as manager if you have any problems and I will do my best to help you.

If you are not able to do this we have appointed Shirley Cappaert (Admin Assistant) and Verity Adams (Rhythmic Coach) as 'Welfare Officers'. They have attended a training course specifically to cover all aspects of this role and will be responsible for working with the Head Coaches and me to ensure that child protection guidelines and recommended good practice are followed at all times.

Shirley and Verity are both very approachable and are happy to discuss any concerns with you and will do their best (individually or collectively) to give advice / mediate / find information as required (this will be in complete confidence). Although it is most likely that children will want to talk to their parents first please let your child know that they too can talk to Shirley or Verity if they feel the need.

Please see the main notice board in the entrance area for a full copy of our child protection policy. If at any time you have a suggestion that may assist us to improve our club please do not hesitate to let us know.
