MAX WHITLOCK performed his signature flares on top of a grand piano on live TV to light-up the 2015 BBC Sports Personality of the Year show in Belfast.

Dressed in a slick suit, South Essex’s 22-year-old pommel horse specialist wowed a sell-out 7,500 crowd at the SSE Arena on Sunday night (December 20).

Max, who was nominated for the top award after winning pommel gold at the World Championships earlier this year, was at the glitzy bash with his girlfriend Leah Hickton and his coach Scott Hann.

Max finished eighth out of 12 nominees in the overall standings, one place below athletics superstar Mo Farah and one above triple jumper Greg Rutherford.

Tennis hero Andy Murray took top honours after inspiring Great Britain’s tennis team to a first Davis Cup victory for 79 years.
