PAIGE MORONEY won the John Bellett Memorial Trophy for the second year running at South Essex’s annual Rose Cup event.

Her excellent floor score earned her the silverware, which is given in honour of John Bellett, a respected and popular former founder coach at SEGC who sadly passed away in 2015.

More than 180 gymnasts, aged between 4-16 and competing across 28 age groups, took part in the competition at the Basildon Sporting Village on Sunday, September 11.

Everyone completed four pieces and medals were awarded to the top three with ribbons for those finishing fourth to six.

Assistant Head of Women’s Artistic & Rhythmic Gymnastics Rebecca Bunce said: “It was another successful in-house competition and it gave many of our younger Development and Recreational gymnasts their first taste of competition.”
