Max and Reiss between them win 6 medals at the
2010
Junior European Championships

Max Whitlock
and Reiss Beckford, represented Great Britain at
the 29th Men's European Artistic Gymnastics
Championships. In qualification for the
all around Max finished 2nd and Reiss 3rd. Each
country is only allowed two competitors to
compete in the all around finals which meant
Reiss was unable to compete as Sam Oldham also
from Great Britain was in 1st position.
Before any of
the finals, Great Britain were competing for the
team championships. Great Britain competed in
subdivision 2 where they scored a total of
254.200 which was nearly ten whole marks above
Germany who were sitting in 2nd position.
Great Britain then had to sit and watch 3 more
rotations to see if they had done enough to win
gold. The final round saw Greece, Serbia,
Slovenia and Cyprus, but none of them could beat
the the bar set by Team GB. Great Britain had
won the gold with Switzerland finishing in 2nd 6
marks behind and France finished in 3rd.
Next was the individual all arounds where Sam
Oldham and Max Whitlock were competing for Great
Britain. Sam and Max where both very close in
scores throughout the competition and they
finished with Sam in 1st and Max 2nd with only
0.300 between the pair of them.
The last part
of the competition was the apparatus finals
where Max had qualified for floor, pommel and
rings and Reiss had qualified for Rings, P Bars
and High bar. Max was crowned European
Champion on both Pommel and Floor. Reiss also
had a fantastic competition to win bronze on
both High Bar and Rings.
A fantastic
result for both Reiss and Max and for Great
Britain.
