MAX WHITLOCK HELPS GB TO GREAT START AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

SOUTH ESSEX star Max Whitlock has helped Great Britain to a terrific start at the 2014 artistic gymnastics World Championships with a confident qualification performance in Nanning.

Max was part of a six-man team who scored 357.193 for second spot behind hosts China after day one of the two day qualification, from which eight countries will qualify for Tuesday’s final.

His individual overall mark of 88.198 made him Britain’s third highest scorer behind Daniel Purvis and World Championship debutant Nile Wilson.

Max will now be hoping to be in a position to claim some individual apparatus medals once the full results for qualifying are in.
