SOUTH ESSEX’S Max Whitlock helped Great Britain to a best-ever fourth place showing in the team competition at the World Championships in Nanning.
Although disappointed to just miss out on a podium place it was a proud day for the six-man team (pictured above) and an improvement on the country’s previous best showing of seventh.
The USA took bronze with a total of 270.369 to Britain’s 269.170, the gold going to hosts China and the silver to Japan.
Max, who was excellent on rings, vault, pommel and the floor, said: “We can be very proud as a team of what we’ve achieved. Again we have shown just how good Great Britain are at gymnastics.”
