LOUISA DUFF made a big break through by winning South Essex’s only gold medal at an inter-regional competition in Birmingham on the weekend.
The nine-year old had the highest overall Under-10 mark after her Free and Hoop routines at the Zone C Championships at the GMAC venue on Sunday, April 19.
She beat 11 rivals from East, East Midlands and West Midlands based clubs for her first title at a big event.
Rebecca Bunce, Assistant Rhythimc Head Coach at SEGC, said: “Louisa has been working so hard and she really deserved this.
“She has always been capable of winning a competition like this but never quite managed it so this was a nice surprise.
“This will now give her lots of confidence for when she competes at the national finals in the summer.”
The win means Louisa has qualified for the national finals at Fenton Manor, Stoke-on-Trent, on the weekend of June 20-21.
South Essex had 19 gymnasts at the event in Birmingham and full results will be avialable soon.
