HAYDEN SKINNER has made the step up to Great Britain’s Olympic Programme squad.
The South Essex gymnast, 14, made the move in January after impressing on the Elite Performance Programme for six years.
It means he will now get top medical care and the chance to work under the country’s top coaches at the Lilleshall Sports Centre in Shropshire.
He will also now rub shoulders with top gymnasts from across the world at the once-a-month training sessions – including clubmate Max Whitlock.
Hayden could get the chance to showcase his new skills at the English Championships in Loughborough in March.
Coach Matt Jackson said: “Hayden has the potential to make it to the top level if he works hard enough.
“He is amazing on the floor and is a confident gymnast and this will only improve the skills he already has.”
