SOUTH ESSEX newcomer Ellie Garrett continued a fine start to the season with a sixth-placed finish in a national competition.

On her SEGC debut, Ellie also competed fantastically to comfortably pass Level 2 at the Women’s Artistic National Compulsory Level 2 & 1 Finals at Piper’s Vale, Ipswich, on June 11.

Her sixth-place on the vault, fourth on beam, fifth on floor and ninth on range represented four personal bests and saw her finish with an overall score of 64.1.

SEGC’s Women’s Artistic Head Coach Leah Hickton, who trains Ellie, said: “To come sixth at this level is an amazing achievement for both Ellie and the club.

“With this competition there are no regional qualifications – it just goes straight to a national competition.

“We have had some great results across all compulsory levels this year at national finals with team-mates Ellie, Paige, Violet and Sienna doing really well.

“So for Ellie to continue that success  is something I’m really proud of and a great achievement for her.”
