SOUTH ESSEX’S Disability Sessions continue to go from strength to strength.
There are now about 100 regular attendees of the club’s weekly classes, which cater for people aged five and above with a range of special needs.
The sessions have been running for 23 years and are now overseen by experienced coach Dave Rapley.
Strong links with local schools have been forged at the 9.30am to 2.45pm classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, while those with conditions including autism and ADHD benefit from one-to-one coaching care at Thursday’s Gymschool between 5-6pm.
Rapley said: “Any achievement our members make is fantastic.
“We just help with support and the facility – all the real effort comes from them.
“We’ve had some good success including one lad who is 11 now and has cerebral palsy.
“He was told he would never walk again but through his determination he did, and it was a special moment when he walked at our Christmas show.”
