SOUTH ESSEX coach Leah Hickton has spoken of her pride at a Great Britain call-up for her young charge, Elise Adeyemo.
Elise, nine, has been selected for the national squad for 2015 as one of the top eight gymnasts in the UK at Level 4.
It means she will get the chance to attend regular training sessions throughout the year with Great Britain’s youngest age group at their HQ at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire.
The South Essex starlet earned her place by coming 11th overall at the Compulsory National Finals in Birmingham in May, and second at the Voluntary National Finals in Guildford earlier this month.
Leah, who has coached Elise since she was four, said: “I’m so proud of her because she has achieved this following a difficult year with a knee injury.
“She was surprised when she found out but she’s over the moon.
“It’s great for her and the club and it’s special to me too because she is the first one I have had to get a national call up.”
