A specialist rig for aerial hoop, static trapeze and silks will be installed on May 19 and an open-to-all exhibition will be held on the evening of Tuesday, May 26.

Students from the National Centre for Circus Arts along with South Essex’s own gymnastic stars will help showcase the exciting new equipment at the club’s smaller gym at the Basildon Sporting Village.

South Essex will host invitation-only taster sessions after the show on May 26 and on the evening of Thursday, May 28, with classes starting in the week commencing June 8.

SEGC’s experienced coach Jeff Davis, who is heading up the project, said: “So much work has gone into making this a reality and now we can’t wait to get started.

“We hope it will enable our club to become a national training centre for Circus Skills and we are sure it will also prove very popular with our community.”
