AN eagerly-anticipated new Circus Skills course at South Essex Gymnastics Club is set to start in April.
The National Centre for Circus Arts now have the plans for the club’s new rig and are scheduled to install it by the end of next month.
South Essex star gymnasts Max Whitlock and Reece Beckford will help showcase the new equipment on a special launch day.
It will pave the way for the Basildon Sporting Village based club to provide structured courses in Circus Skills for 11-16 year-olds and 16 and overs.
Aerial hoop, static trapeze and silks will be among the skills available to learn for gymnasts at Level 2 or above on a two-to-three day course.
South Essex already has four qualified coaches and hopes to add four more soon to run their in-house Circus Skills programme, which is now backed by British Gymnastics.
There is already a lengthy waiting list and SEGC experienced coach, Jeff Davis, who is heading up the project, hopes it will prove very popular.
He said: “The interest in Circus Skills has really blossomed in recent years with TV shows like Tumble. So it will be great to be able to cater for it here at our club.”
