South Essex welcome children affected by Chernobyl disaster

Chernobyl children visit 2015By JAMES COLASANTI

OUR club was delighted to welcome children affected by the Chernobyl disaster on their annual visit to Essex.

Through the South Essex Link of the Chernobyl Children Life Line UK-based charity, families in Billericay host children on recuperative holidays after their health has been affected by the radioactive fallout of the nuclear disaster.

As part of their stay, the youngsters visit South Essex Gymnastics Club at the Basildon Sporting Village.

And this year 12 enjoyed coaching from Matt Jackson, Kayleigh Peak, Rebecca Bunce, Andrew Tucker, Shannon Brown, Abbie Lineham, Verity Adams and Dave Rapley on Friday, July 3.

They also got a chance to spend time with the club’s international gymnasts Max Whitlock, Reiss Beckford, Brinn Bevan and Jay Thompson.

Club coach Verity said: “The children had fruit, biscuits and Juice provided by our lovely office staff and had a fantastic time.”
