SOUTH ESSEX GYMNASTICS CLUB’S Artistic men will prepare for the British Championships in March by competing at the in-house Challenge Cup.
The competition on Sunday, March 5, will be for all age groups and feature sections for Pre-Development, Development, Advanced Recreation and Open Elite.
Gymnasts from the Ipswich-based Pipers Vale club have also been invited to take part at the event at the Basildon Sporting Village.
It will be held the week before the Junior British Championships at London’s Europa Gymnastics Centre (March 11-12) and two weeks before the Senior British Championships at Liverpool’s Echo Arena (March 24-26).
South Essex stars Danny Crouch, coached by Antony Wise, and Scott Hann’s international stars Jay Thompson, Max Whitlock and Brinn Bevan will all be aiming to win national titles this spring.
They will use the Challenge Cup for crucial preparation for the season curtain-raiser.
SEGC Assistant Director of Coaching Matt Jackson will be on the judging panel alongside Director of Coaching Hann at the Challenge Cup, which will see top-three spots earning medals and participation certificates for all taking part.
Matt said: “The timing is very useful for our artistic gymnasts as it will allow us to assess where they are and give us a week or two to correct any issues heading into to the British Championships.”
- Entry forms were handed out in Artistic classes and must be returned to the office by Monday, February 6, to book a place.
