ABBIE LINEHAM won three historic medals for South Essex Gymnastics Club at the 2016 Disability Artistic Gymnastics British Championships at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, in Shropshire.

Abbie, who is 17 in October, became the first SEGC competitor at the event when she won gold on bars, silver on floor, and an overall bronze medal at the event on Sunday, September 11.

The teenager, who has spina bifida, has been a member of the Basildon-based club for seven years and is coached by Kayleigh Peak and Cara Noble.

Kayleigh, South Essex’s Assistant Head of Gym School, said: “We are so proud of Abbie. She is in shock still and didn’t expect to do so well.

“She is now looking forward to the future in this discipline and she has a bright future after winning three British medals.”
