PREPARATIONS are well underway for what promises to be another stunning Gymnanza to celebrate a successful 2018 at South Essex Gymnastics Club.
The Circus-themed show will take place at the Basildon Sporting Village on Saturday, December 22, and will feature performances from gymnasts from across the Artistic and Rhythmic disciplines.
SEGC Events Manager Cara Noble, who has been a driving force behind the club’s Circus programme, said: “All the groups in the Gymnanza will be given a theme or an act, so it will either be juggling or hoop diving or different aspects from the Circus.
“It will make it a little bit different for the coaches, who will have to incorporate props and something different from just a theme or theme music.
“I’m not sure of the exact numbers at this stage but we could have has many as 500 gymnasts taking part.
“The shows will feature gymnasts who train two or more hours a week, and also some from the Women’s Artistic groups at our new centre at Eversley.
“It should be a great show and the finale, as always, will be a big celebration of another great year for the club.”
Last year’s Gymnanza featured an unforgettable Call Me Maybe YouTube spoof video by the club’s international gymnasts and senior coaches.
Cara added: “I’m not entirely sure what they are going to do this year because last year they did their music video – and that will be hard to top.
“I’m sure they will make an appearance but I don’t normally find out until a couple of weeks before – so we will watch that space!”
